To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Book Review

Last updated on February 3rd, 2021 at 08:45 am

To Kill a Mockingbird novel is undisputedly a very famous book which most of us have read at least once at any point of our lives. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is all about the character Atticus Finch, a different and unconventional hero & also a role model for his high level of morality and not physical capabilities. This novel’s major theme of the morals in very apparent all through the entire novel, majorly in relation to the perception of religion and sin. If you talk about the character of Mrs. Dubose who is shown to recover from being a morphine addict and dreams of becoming an absolutely free human as she was aware that is the right path to follow in life.

When we are talking about “To Kill a Mockingbird novel“review, this focuses largely on the gut instinct regarding wrong and right and distinguishes this from just blindly following the set laws. I must mention that the perception of “doing what’s right” certainly has a separate or relative meaning that largely depends on the where and when you are reading this particular book. This book was penned in the 1960s when America was in such a state that it was undergoing ethical development and the prevailing social inequality in America was being very gradually overcome. Also, black rights and women’s rights movements in America were emerging at that time and some started to campaign through violence. Now the question is would the character Atticus Finch be able to condone this?

The book’s plot was set in the period of 1930s and America was then undergoing the Great Depression. That was such a time of extreme economic difficulties which receded most of the American dreams. We can easily assume that Atticus Finch was feeling that his dream of a mortally decent and equal society was tending to head in a wrong direction.

When we are discussing Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird book synopsis and review, I must mention the beauty and intricacy of the literature used in the novel. This is obvious that every person who reads this take away something from the same. This is a depressing notion to think that the kids are continuously suffering in the length and breadth of the world due to unfair justice or tyrannical regime. I am sure that the modern version of Atticus Finch will surely agree with the same. A modern Atticus should have been defending issues which Harper Lee didn’t consider while penning the book like the lesbian and gay rights because the character revolved around accepting people who are around the character. The character of Atticus Flinch is certainly not homophobic or xenophobic. He is not a sexist or racist. He is very human and looks at everyone else in a similar way. Even Atticus Finch can be a great and remarkable supporter of animal rights.

If I am asked for concluding To Kill a Mockingbird analysis and provide summary, I just cannot say whether it should be taught in the schools or not but none should read it just for the heck of reading. I honestly think that you should read this book once in your life whether in your school life or in your adulthood. This is a book with several layers of significance and meaning which are worth knowing. I would strongly recommend this book.
