J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring can be considered as one of the best works of 90s literature. Being the first novel in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, Tolkien has amazingly created a world where nothing is predictable; perhaps anything can happen. The way he has portrayed this fantastic story is thrilling, ethereal, and dynamic. The characters are the main pull point I found in this plot as they are complex, unusual, as well as a pack follies. Moreover, we become senseless when we begin to move along with them on their journey. I must say ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ novel is a package of characters with endearing qualities.
Giving an overview of the story, I have captured the entire chapters to summarize The Fellowship of the Ring book. The story takes place in Middle Earth, where exists different epic people; Elves, Hobbits, Wizards, Dwarves, Orcs, Men, and many more. Thousands of years prior, a ring was forged by Sauron, the Dark Lord to dominate and enslave all of Middle Earth. The One unbreakable Ring can only be destroyed in Mordor where it was created. People have been hunting the ring for years and years but none of them ever succeeded until one day, an elderly hobbit named Bilbo Baggins finds it. No doubt, the evil impact takes over him, the dark forces of the ring drives his mind into its greed. He makes his mind to run away with the ring but Gandalf, the wizard, convinces him not to do so.
Afterwards, the ring falls to Bilbo’s younger cousin, Frodo, with a responsibility to destroy it into the fire hell of Mordor. Frodo has no choice rather than completing the responsibly even if it’s too risky. However he is guarded and accompanied by Gandalf and many other friends. His journey is full of goose bump raising epic battles. With the battles, he loses each of them, and by the end of the book he reaches upon a situation; a major stops to seek protection. Now he is forced to flee with his new best companion, Sam to continue the journey to Mordor.
Rest of the journey is to be interpreted in the two of the following volumes of trio. Since this imaginative unique creation can be seen through the primary character’s (Frodo) perspective, there is no doubt that the story won’t sink into your skin. Also, it is in 3rd person omniscient giving a vantage of viewing most everyone’s thoughts. I would recommend this book to everyone who is into fantasy novels. Moreover I would also recommend every reader to pick up the next two volumes of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trio because you definitely wouldn’t wish the tantalizing journey to end.
